The Eternals - Harry Styles' Eros has one of the most disturbing Marvel Comics histories
Wanted to the MCU, Chivy Styles!
While Marvel's Eternals just reach Walter Elias Disney Advantageous along January 12 giving potentially millions of viewers their first take the new Marvel large franchise major a new race of superpowered beings, most of the world probably already knows the former One Way band phallus and now superstar solo artist/ethnical icon is among them.
Styles plays Eros, also noted in Marvel Comics as the sometimes-Avenger Starfox (yes, the same every bit the misrelated videogame theatrical role) and penis of a whole other society of the ancient Eternals seen in the film. Eros's sect of Eternals hail from Saturn's moon Titan and yes, includes the ultimate MCU big bad Thanos, who as Sexual desire's plastic film companion Pip the Trolling (Patton Oswalt) announces is Eros's brother.
Everyone knows who Thanos is, of run. And thanks to Avengers: End game, MCU fans have gotten petite glimpses of his past including wreckage of his homeworld of Titan. But until Eternals, the rest of Thanos's family - and we mean his actual stoc relations, not his adopted daughters Nebula and Gamora - remained unseen in the MCU.
Not anymore…
Styles/Physical attraction makes his heartthrob debut in unrivalled of Eternals' two credits stingers aboard Pip, another large adventurer from Marvel Comics.
In their brief scene, Blip describes Eros as "the Royal Prince of Titan, brother of Thanos, the Knave of Hearts, defeater of Black Roger, the bang-up adventurer, Starfox of Mystery Planet."
So who is Eros, and how does helium connect not evenhanded to Thanos and the Eternals, but to a potential new generation of Avengers organism orthodox in the MCU? We'll excuse it all properly now, but fair dissuasive his "Knave of Hearts" designation has had some troublesome implications in his comic book past...

Who is Eros of the Eternals?
Born connected Saturn's moon Titan, home to a universe of Eternals entirely its own, Eros is the biological brother of Thanos the Frantic Titan. Unlike his brother Thanos who was calved with the beginning markers of the Eternals' ancient enemies the Deviants, Eros spent about of his youth as a libertine venturer, taking lovers and finding mischief quite than worrying o'er his increasingly violent brother's misdeeds.
In fact, Sexual desire was originally named Eron by his parents, but when his taste for romance and sexuality was determined in his youth, they renamed him 'Eros' in pureness of the Hellenic god of love from actualised human mythology.
Interestingly enough, the name Thanos is also derivable from the Greek word for the prosopopoeia of death, 'Thanatos,' meaning that the brothers are in effect onymous Love and Death - names that correspond with their respective obsessions.
Eros isn't the only diagnose used by the Eternal either, as he's much deceased past the name Starfox, given to him by the Avengers, when operating as a superhero among the people of Earth (though that name has suit a good deal fewer prevailing since the character's 1972 debut in Iron Man #55, thanks to Nintendo's Star Trick video game franchise).
Eros' unworried attitudes varied when Thanos went connected a destructive rampage across Giant, killing umteen of the earthly concern's universe of Eternals, including his own mother.
Though the circumstances of the storey aren't quite a the same as what's been explained most Thanos' past in the Marvel Medium Universe, the results are similar: Titan and its population are left hand devastated and in ruins, with Thanos going on to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet as part of his plan to wreak his end throughout the total world.
Following Thanos' attack, Eros becomes a more somewhat more serious person, eventually determination a friend and friend in Mar-Vell, the underivative Captain Marvel, and his own Allies the Avengers in their first major fight against Thanos. After Thanos' initial defeat by Mar-Vell and the Avengers, Eros winds up soft in with the Avengers atomic number 3 a full member of the team, winning up the aforementioned superhero codename Starfox.
Eros cursed the Avengers as Starfox for a time, before his itchy feet and constant trust for parvenu romantic conquests became too a good deal, and he returned to his spacefaring adventures. Over the years since, he's rejoined the Avengers for a mission here and there a few times, usually when Thanos enters the ikon.
Last, in the history Guardians of the Galaxy: The Final Gauntlet, Eros' dead body was almost taken over by the consciousness of his then-dead sidekic Thanos, leading Thanos' adopted girl (and therefore Eros' adopted niece) Gamora to stab him in an attempt to prevent Thanos' resurrection.
Woefully, Thanos returned anyway, and Eros has yet remained dead.
What are Sexual desire' powers?
We won't lie to you. When it comes to Eros' actual super powers, they're more than a little problematic and kinda creepy - and the implications of that creepiness have been explored directly connected the varlet in Marvel Comics.
So what can Concupiscence actually coif?
Well, in addition to the usual Aeonian powers of provident life, super military posture and stamina, and other broad superhuman qualities, Eros specifically has the power to psionically stimulate the pleasure centers of the brains of living beings - with altogether the bizarreness and potential abuses that entails.
In comic books, Eros has been pictured as using this power to manipulate peoples' perceptions of him and others, to cause them much animal bliss that they're impotent to move and become ill, to human body psychic bonds between mass, and yes, horrifically, flush to coerce people into sexual acts.
If that last bit sticks out to you, it stuck come out of the closet to Marvel Comics too - to the point that in 2006's She-Hulk #6, Eros is actually put unproved for sex offense due to allegations that he ill-used his powers to score and assault a wife. Eros is represented by his former Avengers teammate She-Heavyweight, with whom he joint a sexed tryst in their meter as teammates, imputable the law firm she was working for at the metre taking connected villainous clients, much to her chagrin.
During the trial, Eros is removed from the court subsequently being accused of exploitation his powers to manipulate the jury into his favor. Spell being cross-examined past She-Hulk in a remote location, Sexual desire refuses to respond questions about whether he used his powers happening her when they were sexually involved, leading She-Hulk to get him to a pulp magazine aft realizing she may have been coerced by his powers.
Thanos shows upbound, along with he and Eros' father Mentor, hard a trial be conducted in accordance with the rules of the Eternals, as Eros is a citizen of Titan, not of Earth. In the course of the trial, information technology's revealed that while Sexual desire didn't use up his powers happening She-Whale to make her, he did utilize his powers to lay down her fall crazy with Can Jameson (son of J. Jonah Jameson).
At the same time, in the row of the trial, Thanos tricks Eros into believing that Eros is responsible for Thanos' obsession with the embodiment of Last through the use of his powers, meaning that he'd also be indirectly responsible for Thanos' murderous actions.
Though this is a Trygve Lie meant to hurt Eros, Thanos' handling, combined with the evidence against him that he has a drug abuse of using his powers to do harm to citizenry, leads Eros to ask the psychic Avenger Moondragon to psionically shut down his powers, which she does - though he's later seen using them again without a clear explanation.
Eros in the MCU
With the Eternals now having debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and with Thanos having long been a presence - it seems that more branches of the Eternals family tree could glucinium introduced in the MCU in future films.
Adding Eros to the MCU could pull in whatsoever complicating elements for the legacy of Thanos as a villain, or even possibly provide a way for his rejoinder, as seen in Guardians of the Galax: The Final Gauntlet. And he could also create for an interesting if potentially difficult mate for a future Avengers roster.
Speaking of which, the newest contemporaries of MCU heroes is shaping up to tone a Lot like the Avengers team up that Eros was a part of when helium was using the name Starfox, including She-Giant, Black Knight (who has the beginnings of his own MCU superhero origin in Eternals), and Monica Rambeau.
That could mean that when he (and Styles) returns to the screen, Concupiscence could be the perfect member of a new Avengers roll to add a touch of big flair and an unexpected connection to the larger legacy of the original squad.
Each of that said, whatsoever attempt to adapt Eros - peculiarly as a hero, let alone an Avenger - is in all likelihood to include a major revision to his powers and history. Marvel Comics already balked at Eros' incredibly problematic powers over a decade agone, and Wonder Studios is likely more than keen to succeed cause, especially with Harry Styles in tow.
Eternals is now streaming happening Disney Plus.
Physical attraction' Marvel Comics death appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Final Gantlet, one of the best Guardians of the Galaxy stories of all time.
